Apple TV+ has released a brand new series called The Essex Serpent, and it’s one that you should definitely watch later this weekend.
Despite only being out for a couple of hours, critics everywhere are already raving about how great of a series this is. Rotten Tomatoes audiences gave the title a perfect score of 100%, while critics gave the show an impressive score of 89%. IMDb users were also blown away by the drama, hence why they rated the show a 7.9 out of 10.
Ratings aside, the reviews for The Essex Serpent are also equally amazing. Audiences hail the show for being a “fine portrayal of religious superstition” and also believe the drama is on its way to being “marvelous TV” despite only being two episodes in.

The Essex Serpent synopsis
The Essex Serpent takes a deep dive into what happens when folklore is taken too seriously, especially by those who would rather fear the unknown than confront it.
Refusing to remain a bystander, a young woman named Cora Seaborne sets out to uncover the mystery about a serpent rumored to slither about in a small town. On her journey, she is joined by a pastor who provides his wisdom regarding what he thinks the creature is and whether it was God who sent it.
Although they were both well-intended at the start of their mission, their hearts begin to turn. For Cora, she grows uneasy after the townspeople accuse her of summoning the serpent, while the Pastor finds himself blinded by love despite being married with kids.
With tragedy running amok and tensions increasing, they must come together to solve the mystery before hysteria leads people to do dangerous things. Will they be successful, or will time run out?
