It’s Friday the 13th and just about time everyone starts clocking out of their jobs (or school) and head home to start binge-watching horror movies and series. Because horror fans never need an excuse to watch suspense thrillers and slashers, we enjoy the genre year-round! That said, we highly recommend you watch Candy on Hulu. Candy on Hulu is based on a true story. The Hulu original follows Candy Montgomery (Jessica Biel), a woman accused of brutally murdering her friend Betty Gore in cold blood. The true events took place in Texas, and the verdict started a nation-wide controversy. Candy is a deep dive into the events before and after Betty’s murder. The cast also includes Melanie Lynskey as Betty Gore, Pablo Schreiber as Allan Gore, and Timothy Simons as Pat Montgomery.
Candy on Hulu is the perfect Friday the 13th binge-watch
Hulu hosted a five day event by giving us one episode of Candy every day this week, May 9-13. This means, since it’s Friday the 13th, all five episodes are available to stream on the platform. The acting is brilliant, Biel gives her best and there is even a fun appearance we won’t spoil here. Not only is the fact that this is a crime-drama that is based on a true case spooky enough to watch on Friday the 13th, but this murder happened on June 13, 1980. And, you guessed it, June 13 in 1980 fell on a Friday. It’s a true Friday the 13th crime. I just got chills!
Crime drama fans will also enjoy analyzing the events and debate on whether or not Candy Montgomery deserved the verdict she deserves. After watching, you’ll go down a rabbit hole searching for her current whereabouts and other facts.
