Obi-Wan Kenobi episode 4 recap: The Force continues to be strong

I had HUGE expectations as we headed into episode 4 of Obi-Wan Kenobi. Last week was one of the best episodes of any Disney+ series to date. Will part 4 follow suit? Let’s dive in.

The episode picks up right where they left off, with Tala having rescued Obi-Wan from Darth Vader. We get a montage of Obi-Wan underwater going through some procedure to help with his burn wounds which causes a montage of flashbacks in his head from the battle with Darth Vader. He pops out of the water and asks where Leia is and she has been retaken.

We move to where Leia is and she is POPPING OFF at the mouth at a stormtrooper about who she is and how they can’t keep her (I love this little girl so much). In comes to Reva to inform her that Obi-Wan is dead and that no one is coming for her. A very sad Leia bows her head with disappointment.

We move back to Obi-Wan, who is trying to get back on track to hunt down where Leia is. However, Roken (O’Shea Jackson) is resistant at first to help, but everyone hates the big bad wolves and decides to help them out. So, they start to plan a mission to retrieve Leia, which will be an uphill battle.

Obi-Wan Kenobi episode 4 is a strong entry in the series

Obi-Wan is struggling with using the force on the ship because of his wounds. Tala reminds him that he not only needs to heal from his injuries, but he needs to overcome his past to save Leia. Back to Reva, who tells Leia that she wants the path home and Leia fights back by wanting to know the details of Obi-Wan’s death. Reva wants her help in exchange for letting her go home and Leia turns the offer down.

Tala is on the ship trying to make moves to see if her clearance is still intact to attempt to get Obi-Wan on the ship to save Leia and it works. I love how even though he was almost burnt to death, Obi-Wan can casually swim through the water with ease—followed by being able to take down a stormtrooper. I’m pretty annoyed if we’re being honest.

Reva is trying to use some techniques to attempt to get some information out of Leia and it isn’t working, but Reva attempts to use other methods to make her break.

Moving back to Tala, who gets busted while trying to help Obi-Wan, he starts to think he is on his own, but Tala overcomes the guy and is back in the saddle.

Reva has had enough of Leia, so she’s setting her up in some chamber to torture her. As she starts, Obi-Wan wanders through the halls and realizes that it isn’t a fortress but a tomb. Reva gives Leia one last chance before turning on the machine to take her down.

Finally, Leia screams loud enough for Obi-Wan to hear her and he asks Tala to set up a distraction. Tala talks to Reva about how she knows more and more things, but Reva questions her on whether she is lying or not. As this is happening, Obi-Wan finds Leia and begins to get her out of there.

Reva doesn’t believe Tala at all, but Tala is a convincing liar and keeps the conversation going to help Obi-Wan get closer to getting out with Leia. Finally, the alarms sound off, Tala breaks free from the stormtroopers, and Obi-Wan fights off robots and troopers. I do love seeing Obi-Wan use the lightsaber quite a lot. It brings back a child-like feel to my core to see him in action.

As the trio begins the trek out of the building to head to the ship, they are stopped by Reva, who confronts them and says the end is here. Before they can shoot them, some people come to save them, which allows them to escape from the ship.

Darth Vader is UPSET with Reva, using his force on her saying he is disappointed in her. Reva speaks up to say that they have a tracker on their ship and can track down where they are going to capture them and the city for good. Vader tells her that there are no more mistakes from here on out.

We see Obi-Wan, Leia and Tala back with Roken, where they inform him that one of his men didn’t make it out of the battle. As the episode comes to a close, Leia takes her hand and puts it in Obi-Wan’s in a very somber and sweet moment to end the episode.

Overall, episode four was a slight step down from episode three, but it moved the pieces together to start heading into the home stretch with only two episodes remaining.

Obi-Wan Kenobi episode 4 is streaming on Disney+ today.
